Mescalero, NM – Ski Apache will kick-off its 44^th season this Thanksgiving Day.  A new terrain park, new snowmaking capabilities and high elevations allow for winter fun every day through Easter.

The Ski Apache mountain resort located near Ruidoso, New Mexico offers elevations from 9,600’ to 11,500’ covering 55 trails with 11 lifts, including New Mexico’s only 4-passenger gondola.  With relatively mild temperatures and sunny skies, skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities can enjoy a great experience in the southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico.

The new website www.skiapache.com allows skiers and snowboarders to make reservations ahead of time for Ski School and group lessons.  Beginners receive a free lift ticket with a purchase of a lesson, while lessons for all abilities including private lessons, are offered at competitive rates.  Group lessons are available to riders 7 years or older, while Kiddie Korral children lessons are offered to 4-6 year olds with all day instruction.  “Weekdays Only,” “Weekend Only,” and “Full Season” passes are available at great values.

            The Ski Apache snowboard and ski rental shops have been expanded and offer high quality equipment with expert technicians on hand for immediate service. With over 1,500 sets of skis and more than 300 snowboards, the full service shops are conveniently located and minimal fitting time means more time on the slopes. 

            Smokey’s Terrain Park will open this season to become Ski Apache’s first terrain park for both skiers and snowboarders. By unloading midway on Lincoln Chair #2, Smokey’s Terrain Park is easily accessible and offers several rails and jumps for learning and practicing tricks.  

            The mountain resort also features a Sport Shop, indoor and outdoor dining, and a large bar on site. Lodging accommodations in Ruidoso include motels, hotels, condos, and cabins with lodging/ski packages available.
